i am going to buy a graphics card, and i was wondering if this card is good.
its a visiontek 3870. i know 3870 are good, but not as good as the 8800.
but i was wondering how good is the fan and heatsink.
heres a link from newegg.

i think its on sale at micro center for $160, so i could have it by today.
i am the kind of person that doesnt have patience on waiting on things to arrive by mail, and am not going to spend more than $10 on shipping.
i dont have a bank account, and i have to use one of my friends to buy it, but he doesnt have enough money in his bank right now, so i would have to wait till he gets his paycheck, or give him the money and that might take awhile for him to put it in the bank.
so should i wait it out to buy this one instead?

the visiontek is the first option, but if you all recommend the msi because of how the fan and heatsink is, then i will try and wait it out.
i would get this, but then in the future, it might be hard finding this one in the future for crossfire.

unless i would get the same performance if i just get a regular 3870 with this to crossfire as i would with two of these.
thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a great card. However, the HD Radeon 4850 is coming out later this month which is supposed to be around the $190 price range, and performs better than the 9800gtx(so they say), and is a single slot card. I was considering on getting that card from Best Buy until a friend told me about the 4850, which I now want to get.

hmm, i see.
do you know a more specific date of when the 4xxx series come out?
thanks in advance

do you think that theres going to be a price drop in these cards around june, since thats what ive been seeing lately with graphics card that were released.
they also begun around $200, but then a couple weeks later, they became around $40 cheaper.

I don't think so, personally. Since these cards are said to be able to compete with the 9800gtx's, I highly doubt that AMD has a need to drop the prices of these cards. Maybe the 3xxx series, but I doubt that as well. nVidia will probably have to drop the prices on their cards though. The gtx 280 is supposed to have 2x the performance of the 9800gx2. Maybe when the 4870x2 comes out, but still unlikely.

Prototype HD 4870 X2 with early drivers is faster than GTX 280, well at least in 3DMark Vantage: http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/Radeon_HD_4870_X2_R700_Beats_GeForce_GTX_280/5851.html

@ OP: If you want to buy a card now, then that:

is a great price. I think the MSI and Visiontek are too much for a HD 3870, but there is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161218
