NFS Cluster

First of all i apologize if i misplaced this post.

what I want is to set up a nfs cluster that acts as one
availible drive (masks the individual ips into one virtual ip)
that when it writes it is load balenced (like sata for nfs)


I have a couple of Questions regarding this
1. is this possible?
2. Is this possible via open source?

Have you considered a Fiber channel NAS or SAN instead? Why the need for a cluster?

its cheeper using 2 boxes that i have, but I need redundancy

clusters require shared storage.

you have two servers that connect to the same shared storage array.

Windows clustering requires Server 2003 Enterprise ($2500 per server)

I have a SQL cluster
2x Dell 2950's with 2003 Enterprise
1x MD 3000

Around 25k in hardware and software.

IF you want a cheap option try DFS with 2 servers. Its not a cluster its two copies of a file share, and its replicated.
