Processor Questions

i was planing on getting a new processor for my computer off ebay so i could play AoC better, anyways i was wondering what specific requirements i would need like motherboard or what not. also i think it said it didn't come with a fan can i use the fan from my current one?

INTEL PENTIUM 4 3.0GHz SL6WK 512 800 3GHZ PROCESSOR is the processor i am planing on getting if you need any information about my computer ask.

We need to know what motherboard you have in order to determine what CPUs it can support.

In many cases, you can use the same heatsink from the older chip.

That is an AMD motherboard.
Here is a list of the CPUs it supports:

• Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon64 processor (Socket 754)
• Supports 2800+, 3000+, 3200+, 3400+, 3700+
• Supports Sempron 2600+, 2800+, 3000+, 3100+, 3300+

The Athlon 64 is still a very good CPU and that's what you should be looking for. Make sure it's socket 754.

And could you list your entire specs as it's possible you would benefit more from a better GPU in AoC.

There is only one processor I found compatible for that motherboard.

you need a new mobo... but heres the only processor i've found that will work for your mobo.

my specs right now are:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3200+ 2.19GHz
1.00 GB of RAM
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro

Don't buy a new motherboard for a Pentium 4, it won't be worth it.
