Wasn't there a website were a guy had a paper clip or something and he traded it up each time for something better like paper clip -> pen - >paper weight etc and ended up having something worth $1000s ?

do the whole, buy a box of matches or something, then sell them for a bit more, buy something else more expensive, sell it again for more money, and so on and so on until you can get something really good. Basically just continually trading up
