9800 Gx2

Seriously, I consider that card a waste of money. Is really is a botch job of a multi-GPU solution.
If you play at high resolutions, I'd recommend a card with 1GB of VRAM. There are HD 3870s and 8800GTs available that would be perfect.

And if you have a Crossfire or SLI supported mobo, two of either of those are going to be faster than a GX2 for less money.

Okay, id like to possibly run 2 of those 1GB 8800GT's (yellow ones lol) in SLI. My mobo is an Intel 5000x (?) Can you check or how would i know about if it can support sli or not?

Intel 5000X? Could you download and run CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
And click the mainboard tab and tell us the results.

EDIT: Ahhh, is this a dual socket workstation board? If so, then no, it does not support SLI. But I would still take either of the two 1GB cards over the 9800GX2.
The HD 3870 would be my pick as it seems to benefit much more from the 1GB of VRAM than the 8800GT does.

So wait.. how would either of these cards outclass the 9800GX2?

I'm not saying they would outclass them, but you're going to get 75% of the performance for less than half the price.

Okay so if i was going to spend 650 or so on a whole new GPU, what would be the best single card out there (as of now/before june 13th)

You shouldn't spend $650 on a GPU, there are $250 cards out there that are more than powerful. Just think that GX2 may be pretty fast now, but tomorrow it'll be obsolete.

But it's your money...

OMG dude check this out!!!

DONT GET THE GX2 ITS A WAIST ON MONEY!!!

Supposable and for now its a rumor, but what I think, hope will be true. The new Nvidia cards are coming out! THIS MONTH!!! June 18 or something, code name 280GTX & 260GTX. One GTX card will me almost 2X as powerful as the 9800GTX!!! think about it!

GeForce GTX 280:

1GB GDDR3
240 Stream Processors
PhysX Ready
CUDA Technology
PureVideo HD technology
Full MS DirectX 10 Support
Open GL 2.1, SLI, PCIe 2.0 Support
2nd gen. Unified architecture delivers 50% more gaming performance over 1st gen. through 240 shader processors

GeForce GTX 260: 448-Bit
896MB GDDR3
192 Stream Processors
PhysX Ready
CUDA Technology
PureVideo HD technology
Full MS DirectX 10 Support
Open GL 2.1, SLI, PCIe 2.0 Support

If u do a google search you can find A LOT OF INFO on the new 280GTX (about $600) this will be a TRUE replacement for an old 8800 ULTRA.

If u cant wait that long, get a 9800GTX from EVGA (MUST be EVGA) and when 280GTX arrives just do a step-up. I have 9800GTX and I am doing a step-up as soon as its here

Cheers
