User Friendly Linux

I have a second older computer and i wanted to know what linux i can use for it. i'm just using it for internet and playing music.

P3 1.2mhz
256ram
20gb hard drive

256 for the non live CD install, 384 is only required to boot the OS in a live enviroment off the CD.

Would ubuntu really be the best linux for that computer?

I use ubuntu on my main computer (gave up on windows) and it uses 410mb of ram when i'm on my desktop

I have a knoppix cd around somewhere. You can probably run that.

There is also xubuntu. I installed it on my old laptop (similar specs) and it runs fine.

I've run the live CD with less than 384MB of RAM... It was slow in booting up, but it did boot.

Otherwise Damn Small Linux or Puppy Linux will work great on that.

I would suggest either xubuntu, or you could give pclinux a try. Both of these would run on your system.
