So i keep hearing that i have to make sure my OS supports 64-bit, is this a must or is it optional? I know XP has a 64-bit version, does Vista have a 64-bit version or are all versions of Vista 64-bit compatible? Need some info please. Thanks.

Their are 32 and 64 bit versions of windows Vista out their, if your buying OEM make sure to get the 64 bit if you want 64 bit support.

Ok so even though my CPU says 64 bit support, do i absolutely have to use a 64 bit OS?

if you have a 64 bit cpu and a 64 bit processor then the two are meant to work well together, although ive only heard success stories of people that have 4gb or more ram. thats the only real use for 64bit, as driver support sucks

Ya...right now, 64bit is mainly used for servers and people who want more than 4gb of RAM. If you're just using it as your desktop you don't realy need a 64bit OS.
