Hey, i'm running Vista 64bit and 780mb of ram and 960mb of my pagefile is used right when i start up. i also have a usb 4gb dedicated to readyboost.

Anyway of freeing up that ram or do i really need to get more ram?

System:

Intel 945gcz, 512x2 Samsung Ram, Nvidia XFX 8600GT.

DxDiag Info:
Memory: 788MB used, 1014MB RAM
Page File: 1001MB used, 1283MB available

What is all of my ram going to? in Pro 64bit i had atleast 700mb of free ram and no page file WITH integrated shared graphics

Vista's ram usage is different because it loads various tasks into the memory unlike XP. You could try not running as many gadgets and that may help a little.

Personally I'd just buy some more memory since its dirt cheap. If you can afford $30 bucks you can get another 2GB pretty cheap. If you want to game at least get another GB.

I've got 4gigs and with heavy video editing and gaming I've seen it drop down around 1GB free.

ah yeah i know how cheap it is i just gotta wait a week and a half to get it

Thanks for helping me understand. i'm not the best at this shit

Ya no problem. If you want to multi task you'll need more ram. I took a screen shot just now of my usage. All I'm doing is converting a .avi to .wmv, copying some video's off my cell phone via bluetooth and surfing the web and I'm using almost 2GB or 47% of my memory.

Add in a Music player and a few other applications and I'm well above 2GB used.
