Weak Psu

i have a 300 watt psu and i want to know if i would be ok putting this in

if this just plainly wont work i need a video card that can work with a 300 watt psu.

That one says it requires at least a 450W power supply.

A 7600GT such as a ZOTAC GeForce 7600GT will work nicely. This will also work too: SAPPHIRE Radeon X1650PRO. Neither are performance giants, but they are capable gamers and nice upgrades from onboard graphics.

yeah i really like that 7600 gt thanks alot for that link.

but the fact its 128bit makes me kinda doubt it. is 256bit really that much better?

Yea, 256 bit cards do perform better as they have more memory bandwidth.

Is this going into the Dell system in your sig?

I did some research, and it says it works in 64 bit OS.

Like Atomic stated, you can upgrade the psu for fairly cheap. let us know, we can recommend some decent psu's

Yup, the 7600GT will work fine with XP x64.

The only problem with getting a new PSU is that he'll need a BTX power supply for his particular Dell. They are a bit more expensive and harder to find.

After further searching, an ATX PSU may work in that Dell.

Make sure you get a 7600GT with GDDR3 memory, they are noticably faster than the GDDR2 variants.

and when you install it go into BIOS and take the shared bvideo mem on your integrated and jump it to the lowest setting s to get more RAM and also the startup card to.
