Is DSL and Broadband the same?

Why...bad bandwidth? All the people in my neighborhood are old people so most of them hardly use the bandwidth much.

My parents are paying what...$35 a month for AT&T FastAccess DSL 6.0, 6mbps download (750kb/s), and 512kbps upload (64kb/s)...the fastest in the area. The cable internet over here is like $50 a month for 3mbps that is always going down and crap.

Here's what i get, seems pretty slow with 3-4 computers using it at the same time.

That's not a bad speed. What is the advertised speed?

Also with torrents it's usually not your dl speed killing your connection, it's your upload speed.

for some reason my downloading is capped at 150kbs every once in a while it reaches 500 for like 30 seconds then goes back to 150..

its my provider thats limiting this right?
