Ok im in the final stages of my build. I have pretty much all the parts. Now i dont know what operating system to use whether to go with Vista or Xp and what version to go with. My Spec are as followed.

Antec 900.

Asus Maxium Extreme.

BFG tech 8800gtx.

Q9400.

Patriot viper 4gb.

2x western digital 500gb.

2x western digital 160gb.

vista will work fine so you don't really need to worry about performance. You also probably want 64bit OS since that way you can use all of the ram you have.

So most likely vista home premium. If you need the additional functions that the more expensive versions use then by all means by the more expensive one, but home premium is good enough for most people.

I would consider a different case, if your not used to routing cables you may have a hard time with this case.

If you want rock-solid performance and less resources being used up by the OS, go with XP.

I went with Vista and I'm totally happy with it. It uses more resources than XP and can sometimes have compatibility issues with some programs, but its a great OS.

I Would recomend Xp Pro,As i get a few extra FPS's in games,then when i had vista.

but theres no DX10 for all the future games , thats a problem

Yeah,So i think once DX10 becomes more mainstream,Then i will have to go to vista
