K, just making sure all parts are compatible with each other:

Hard Drive: Maxtor 500GB SATA 16MB Buffer
RAM: 1GB x2 Kingston Extreme Performance pc6400
Power Supply: Apevia 680w blue PSU
Case: Coolermaster Mystique ATX Mid
Video Card: ATI 3870 512MB or 8800GT/9600GT
Processor: One of the two, AMD Phenom X4 Black Edition 9850 or q6600 or e8400
Motherboard: AM2+ or LGA 775 with SLI/Crossfire enabled
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit or 64bit, haven't decided

So, how does it look so far?

Don't get 64 bit without 4GB of RAM.

WD drives preferred here or Seagate for the most part. Kingston makes some excellent Hyper X performance memory as well.

Apevia for a supply? Corsair for a higher tag or the OCZ GameXStream 620 or even 700w supplies perform well. Antec 900 case in use here with twin 120 front fans for intake. Many are looking at the 9800GTX for NVidia for PCI-E 2.0 boards while the 3870s are good performers.

2.5ghz AMD quad? The 6000+ X2 3ghz dual core is working here while waiting for AMD to get the cpu speeds up on the quads. For Vista many are jumping on the 64bit Ultimate edition while a wait for Windows 7 the next version will finally see a 64bit version here. The software companies still have to get it together to see 64bit games and apps come out while the market is still 32bit.

A good 2-3gb of memory for the 32bit edition of Home Premium or Ultimate for the inflated price there works. Remember to set two cpus instead of one to see the desktop load up like lightning. You go into the boot tab on Vista and clck on the advanced options there to place a check on the number of processors and choose 2 if you have a dual or quad core cpu to see Windows load up faster.
