Just like 7.10, 8.04 does not work for me.. at all.
I posted my issue here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=791065

I really do want to try linux again.. but if it's going to break before it can even boot for the first time.. then it's all just pointless. I'm pretty close to just putting XP back on, because at least that works properly.

Well, i would recommend that you keep all of this in one thread, like the one that i am helping you on, and I would also recommend doing a fresh install like they recommended. This time when they ask you to choose where you want to install ubuntu, choose the linux partition that all ready exists and then write over it.

Cheers!

It was fresh in the first place, wmorri. Not an upgrade or anything like that.
Anyway, the issue was with the hard drive. No matter how many times or how I did things, linux would refuse to mount a partition from that drive. Right now I'm running PCLinuxOS from another hard drive, and it's working fantastic. Ubuntu works too, but I'm liking this more.
