good psu

See the thing is, I'd say you want at least 450 watts just to be safe, and for future upgrade ability (SLI, etc.)

With the exception of future water cooling or SLI, I don't see to much of a need for future proofing a PSU. Things are only getting more efficient, something that needs 500w today will only need 400w tomorrow.

The only thing I can see is new connectors, which would make the most expensive 1000w + today obsolete.

q6600@3.6 w/ 1.5v, 2 sata hdd's, dvd/cdr combo, 3 120mm fans, 8800GT(power hungry) = 358w full load.

do you think the antec one is a good buy for this card. i have a p4 3.0ghz HT and 1 gb ram right now with only one 160gb had drive

It would work fine.

I order them like this: PC P&E, Enermax, Earthwatts, Seasonic.

do you know if it would work with an amd opteron socket 939, 2 gb ram, 9600gt, and 160gb hd, because thats im going to upgrade to.

That OCZ mammikoura posted is a beast with 72A available.

The PC P&E w/ 23A on the +12v is still shy of what a 9600GT requires. They need at the minimum of 400W with 26A on the 12V rail.

The OCZ has 17A on the +12v

The 9600GT barely draws any power at all...... and definitely doesn't need 26A.
