Anyone have recommendations for a laptop?

Hi there! I hope this is in the right place.

So, I've been in the process of tracking down a decent laptop for a fairly affordable price. I am looking for something that is in the $600-850 price range. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out in deciding what I should get.

Here's what I am after:

Now, I am not a gamer, so I don't need anything with a good graphics card. I am looking for something that has a large amount of space, and has at least 2 GB of RAM. I am an avid user of the internet, so I like speed. I also watch DVDs and such. I am also into filmmaking, so I am looking for something that is good to upload footage. Wireless is cool, too.

Are any of these decent? I mean, I like quality, but I know that I am limited by my price range (it's all I can afford). I would be grateful if someone would be cool enough to help me out and lend some advice on purchasing a laptop.

I just bought a dell vostro 1700 costing me 360pound, its a wicked machine at the price its dual core duo 2 1.4ghz and 2ghz memory with 120gsata hdd and the graphics is ingrated but still good maybe upgrade a little and get better but still its a good build big screen nice keybored with water proof, and its battery life is wow wow wow, also the newest wireless N, great performance wicked speeds, the layout is cool the smooth ness on the front of the laptop stops it from getting sctrached, its got a sd memory card unput and s-video port pluss the sound and muc and ethernet, umm o and the buttons at the front of the laptop, so good if you watch/listen to films or music then its a good toggle mute and next buttons and stop pause volume.

great buy 5 stars

o and the touchpad is great because its more to the left so you have more arm space, and the sound is great, i thought it would be lower but man its aswome for the price.

if you get a upgrade well, your doing evden better

also if you but anything over 300pound on dell its free delivery and mine came 3days lator

Just at a glance, in terms of price vs. performance the Toshiba one and the Dell Inspiron w/ Core2 are about the same. I wouldn't go with AMD when it comes to mobile processors, it's never been their forte. Really nowadays, companies are being really competitive in the notebook arena so you'll find that the majority of the companies all sell at comparable prices.

You could check out HP for some decent deals, I just configured a notebook that is better than the Dell Inspiron that I mentioned for 888.

and you gotta think about the layouts aswell in laptops because ive had a few and its about the layout aswell so look and research good man, am just giving tips

Hey, thanks guys! Trust me, I am doing all the research I can. I just though it wouldn't hurt if I asked around on message boards. Especially since I've gotten some great help in picking out RAM from users on this forum.

Oh, the main reason I am looking for at least 2GB of RAM, is because of some of the software I use. I don't know if that info would really change anything, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to give out as much as I can.

I use Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Sony Vegas.

I've been doing quite a bit of research, and am actually in the process of compiling a list of stuff. I will post what I have narrowed my selections down to later.

Has anybody else got anything to chime in? I'd still appreciate some thought from other users. Thanks!

I think you'll need more then 2gb ram then with all them because your using .gif pics right? then this requires hugh ram

Well 2GB would suffice if he's not using all of those apps at the same time, I'm running on 1GB of RAM and Photoshop CS2 runs fine with Illustrator CS2.

That's not to say you shouldn't push for that extra RAM if you could, more RAM in your case is better.

yes KCHI55 but when you work with animated gifs then you need some good ram because when you save the gif it can take along time depending on how big the gif is
