Laptop reinstall

Hi All,

Just killed the harddrive on a laptop Advent7255 DVD, purchased 2000.
This machine was preinstalled WIN98, a recovery CD was issued at purchase.
After wiping, inserted recover CD without success, software on recovery CD is Norton Ghost by Symantac. I have been trying the correct reinstall steps but when partition is correctly copied and " Reset Computer", is chosen the screen reverts back to original message, " Advent computer not found "?

If you have any better options that the Ghost software may be able to apply Id be greatful for the spec.

Lastly given the current state of play would a new OS install be out of the question, black screen on boot did advise also that no OS was found, which as we know was wiped using 'diskill'.

Hi All,

Disregard this thread, issue resoloved.

For the curious:

Ghost was loading correctly, it simply was a case of taking out the CD from the drive and rebooting, WIN98 booted correctly.

well i was going to suggest installing xp. provided you have 64mb or more ram then it can actually run quite smoothly. glad you got it sorted though
