Old games are also based on our childhoods, which tend to be the happiest times of our lives, if you think back now (For most people), and so, because of the memories, the games you played back then seem to resound to be better than recent games of now. Thats how I think it works.
Its like, your brain etches these classic games into our heads, for instance, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, etc.

Whereas, our brains since we aren't learning as much now as we are older don't etch recent games in as much.

I guess you could say our brains almost love the games we played as a child, etched there permanently for all time, like we would think of our first Girl Friend/Boy Friend.
