The sad thing is that he felt he needed to arm himself and the house before the party. Any time alcohol and firearms are mixed, the outcome is never good. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against owning guns as I have a few myself, but I'm smart enough to know a bad idea when I see one.

I really don't want to get involved in this thread, But I will touch on something.
From reading the story, It sounds like you "anticipated" their arrival and the injuries that were inflicted were to a point pre-meditated. At that point, This entire situation could of had an ENTIRELY different and safer outcome. It sounds to me someone had something to prove.
It's that simple.
