Is it a full desktop pc or a slim client that requires a server?

So what do I do, How do I reformat or reinstall the windows?

If you have a copy of windows XP, all you need to do is put the disk in the cd or dvd drive, and then restart your computer. From there you will need to get to the boot loader. Once in the boot loader, you should choose to boot from the drive that you put the windows cd into. From there on it is pretty self explainitory, just follow the directions and you will be set.

I didnt come with any cd's or anything! It was free.
Yea I think its on a server but Im not 100% sure.

you can't log on because there is no domain controller in your house to authenticate against. the domain controller is still on the school network.

you'll either have to get the local admin password so you can log on as local admin.

or reformat the machine so you can set your own passwords.
