hi i just made a new computer

MB: EVGA 122-CK-NF68-T1 N680i SLI 1
VGA: EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR 8800GT 512M 1
CPU: INTEL|C2Q Q6600 2.40G 775 8M R 1
PSU: ROSEWILL|RP550 RETAIL 1
MEM: 1Gx2|OCZ DII800 OCZ2P8002GK R 1
HD: 320G|WD 7K 8M SATA2 WD3200AAJS % 1
DVD: BURN ASUS|DRW-2014L1T LS SATA
CASE: RAIDMAX|ATX-612WB BK RT
i got windows xp (crack)
the problem is that i get low fps in games like tf2 counter strike 1.6 and source.
i get about 30-60 in laggy areas in the map
and a steady 70-80 in 1.6
my freind told me that this was WAY to low
he tells me he get a steady 200 even in laggy areas(donna if this matters but he has sli 7600 gt fatality)
so im just wondering how i can fix this...

btw the graphics in game is all high including resoultion, aa, af, virtical sync ect.

Turn virtual Sync off.
that shouldnt be a problem in 1.6, 70-80 fps in 1.6 is horrible (no offence), i got 100 contantly in that game with my 6600LE. but with the hl2 based games you should definately turn vertical sync off, i have it off on my 8800gts.

but yeah i get like 50-130 fps in tf2, with everything maxed out with 8x aa, and 2x as and motion blur

Me too. Have you checked your CPU temps under load? If you are oc'd on that 8800gt run it stock and see what happens. I just went though this with my Q6700 until I realized the heatsink and fan had taken a dive.

thx for the help
well in 1.6 i get the max fps wich is 100 constaly by typing fps_max 150
i did turn vsnyc off and forced it off in nvidia contol panel (yes newest driver installed) in cs source i get 100-200 depending on wat map and how muh ppl. (except for zombie map which the fps is like 30-150). now in tf2, i get a steady 50-200 but i wat it to stay in the 100 zone. my card is factory overclock. any one know any program to check core temp w/out going to bios?
