Which do you guys recommend? On Tomshardware.com they recommended MX-2.

I've been using MX-2 for a while now (tube has just run out)

It's good for a couple of degrees on AS5 and also has no "settling in" period.

Really? I always though MX-2 was worse than AS5 and that the MX-4 stuff was the best. Damn, I'm gonna need to get some.

Perhaps I was imagining it. I was sure I'd heard or seen it somewhere though. But obviously I'm wrong.

Great. About a 5 to 10c decrease depending on which core. I can finally use the 1.5V Vcore. 3.6GHz!! I'll take it apart again and post some pics when I've got the time.

MX-1 was worse than AS5 and MX-2, maybe you got them mixed up? I would like to try the Tuniq TX-2 but I can't find it for sale here and I'd kill (well, figuratively speaking) to get some Shin Etsu

OT:

Did you lap the cpu IHS as well or just the cooler?

5-10°C is a good result, was there always such a big disparity between your cores or has this altered since you lapped?

I lapped both the CPU and heatsink. There has always been differences between my cores. Sometimes one will be at 35c and the other 39c or the other way around. I think it was definitely MX-1 and MX-2 I was getting mixed up with.
