To run in RAID you need drives of the same size and speed.

network cards, usb cards etc. Wouldn't be surprised if you would find a sound card that uses pci-e 1x.
Basically it's ment for small stuff, kind of like pci is used nowadays.

Yeah sound cards to. The one that came with my mother board (ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA) came with the supreme fx2 and it uses pci-e 1x
