"Legendary rotary engine reliability" hehe. Sure, the RX-8's wankel engine is a great piece of engineering, but I don't think it can stand up to the reliability of the standard piston engine.
What about this:

Broke the land speed record for a diesel powered machine using a digger engine.

Well using cars under 50K I would get an RX-8, RX-7, Mustang GT, Lancer, Lancer EVO, GTI, Charger, Supra. Over 50K I would Get R8, Gallardo, ZO6, SRT, 911 Carrera S, BMW M5. If I ever bought A Mazda I Would Get the RX-7 though because I wouldn't want to have the same car as my cousin lol.

Yeah, I still think the FD is a better car than the RX-8, but the RX-8 is a great car nonetheless.

It has it's pros and cons. For the size and weight, you get LOTS of power. At the same time, you have to be consistent in maintaining the engine as the Renesis uses bits of oil by design to help lubricate the apex seals. Then again...you should be consistent in maintaining any engine regardless of it being rotary or piston powered.

Rotary engines aren't unique. They have been around since the 50s, but have never become widespread because of their multiple drawbacks. But in car like the RX-8, they're perfect.
