Windows Vista display query

Hi everyone, I would like some help on a relatively minor but annoying problem.

As far as I'm aware, by default in Vista if you click once on a file in one of your folders, it is highlighted and either at the side or bottom of the screen there is a box showing information about the file you've clicked. So for example, if I go the C:\MP3s and I click once on an mp3 file, there'll be a box containing details about the file such as date modified, length of the song, size etc.

That used to be the case on my PC but I must've accidentally changed something because now when I click on files their details don't show up. Can someone please shed some light on how I can reactivate the display on details when files are clicked on? Any help would be good, thanks.

I ain't too use to Vista but try right click any folder and click properties maybe something around their with boxes telling you two maybe click an option to view this information
