overclocking going slower

just overclocked my e6600 from 2.40 to just over 3
using a artic colling freezer 7 pro, and it goes slower now after overclockign than it did before when playign games
any ideas?

Is the overclock stable? What are you using to determine its slower?

I suggest running prime95 or orthos for a few hours and make sure its stable. After which run 3dMark06 at stock then at your overclock settings and you should see a gain.

Also download everest and do a complete system bench. You'll be able to see a bunch of cpu bench tests as well as memory etc. As you overclock you should gain in these areas.

If your losing performance then I would suspect your PSU isn't supplying enough power for all your components.

Surely a bad PSU would just result in system instability, not reduced performance?

ran orthos, last night
was fine
before the overclock, fsx ran pretty well
now after its very laggy and very slow
with a stupidly low fps

Did you run it on small ffts? blend doesn't stress the processor too much.
