Failed to OC Q6600 need help

It says it's at 1.6 because Intel's stepspeed automatically reduces the multi to 6x when the CPU is idle. Make sure you are using a 1:1 ratio and set the Vcore to 1.25.

Problem 1, auto voltage. NEVER use auto-voltage when OC'ing.

Worshipme hinted at it, but part of the issue is also speedstep. Disable that.

On a side note, please limit your signature to five lines.

Go looking around in BIOS. Usually it's in "Advanced Chipset" but every BIOS layout is different.

And I Don't mean to sound like a dick, but get on fixing that signature if you don't want it deleted.

yes, like i said in my frist post, it can be no more than five lines.

I am having exact same problem with an ASUS P5K board. I raised voltage to 1.25 manually I have Multiplier set to 9x manually and I have FSB raised to 355 manually. In CPU-Z it reduced my multiplier to 6x and now I am running at 2.1Ghz

Alright well when orthos is running it goes all the way up to 9x and 3.2Ghz. Voltage however does not go up any higher than 1.136 V even though I set it to 1.25
