Athlon is a desktop processor which would generally require higher power consumption and lower batter life. If it was a TurionX2, which is a notebook processor, I would go for that.

If you are looking for power go with the core 2 duo. If you are looking for a deal on one pm me. I run my own computer part company.

They would both give similar performance. It depends on the price. And the Athlon X2s are quite energy efficient.

In fact I just looked at some benchs and the X2 is faster than the C2D at those speeds.
