After doing a repair install of Vista my computer is really slow, what's wrong?

I needed to reinstall Windows Media Player, and a few other things that I removed from my original Windows install. But after doing the repair install (I guess technically a "upgrade" install) my computer takes forever to reboot, forever to load, and forever to do anything.

What's wrong? Maybe I should downgrade to XP, Vista seems really bloated with useless things.

You need to reinstall all your drivers such as motherboard and video card drivers.

Should I do a complete install again? But I hate reinstalling all those programs, it takes forever.

No, just reinstall your drivers and see how it goes. Also any service packs and updates need to be reinstalled.

All the drivers are all there, it didn't remove any of them.

Yea, I guess it doesn't remove them. Interesting. Maybe try uninstalling then reinstalling them. Maybe a registry cleanup?

A clean install is probably the best idea.

yeah i suppose you reformat. How much space have all the programs taken up?
