Which should I get, Half Life: The orange Box or CCS

css is a great game, i have it and i love it, the graphics in it are the same as HL2 since its from the same game engine, and they sure as hell arent crappy. they arent the best, but they are pretty damn good, i think you'll be impressed...

Both tf2 and cs:s are developed with the source engine.

For $75 you can most certainly afford both.

With orange box you better make sure you like tf2. Once you beat portal and the half life games, (or if you already have), its not really fun anymore.

Team Fortress 2 is a team oriented game. Even more so than counter-strike. You can choose from different classes, (such as pyro, spy, engineer, demoman, etc), all with different pros and cons. You work together with your team to achieve a common goal, (usually capturing a point or a flag).

Counter-strike is also team oriented, but not to the same extent. CS:S does not have bad graphics. When everything is running at high it is very aesthecially pleasing.

As you can see the styles of play are very different even though they're developed with the same engine.

The orange box.

then get CSS at walmart later for like 10 bucks

or, for 100 dollers on steam, i think it comes with the oarange box, all the origianal CS game, the new CSS games, HL1, and some other stuff

Personally, I think Orange Box will last much longer than just CS:S. Even though only one of the games is multiplayer online, TF2 will last you a whileeee if you get into it.

Not to mention about 18 hours for Half Life 2, 5 hours for Episode One, 6 hours for Episode 2, and a couple hours for Portal. That's 30 hours of single player, plus however much you end up playing Team Fortress 2.

Personally, owning pretty much all of VALVe's games, I have to say that CSS is the only one I still play regularly. I never cared for TF2. After beating all the single player stuff, it's back to CSS for me. I don't mind the occasional 1.6 or CZ either. I never really see the big differences between them other than the aesthetics. I mean I know the recoil and physics and what have you are much different, but to me it doesn't play all that differently.
