UGH I installed xp 1 because my disk was weird. My uncle gave me a SP1 disc.

I have a 500 gig hdd. SP1 only comes up to 127gb. When I update to SP2 will it go up to 500? Or will I have to change something, or reinstall.

If you want to format your drive as a single 500GB partition with XP on it, your best bet would be to slipstream XP with SP2 and reinstall. Otherwise, the way it is now afetr installing SP2, you'll have the primary "C" partition of 127GB and then have to create another partition(s) with the unallocated space.

This is the easiest slipstream program I have ever used: AutoStreamer

Or, you can install SP2, then use something like G-Parted to extend your partition onto the rest of the empty space.

Will G-Parted extend the primary partition containing the OS?

I've tried doing that through Windows and it won't let you extend a primary partition.

It lets you shrink it, and I've extended non-OS partitions so I don't see why not. Worse comes to worse it says no.
