Harddrive is Failing..

It failed the short and long tests?

If so, it's definitely time for a new drive. How old is the drive? It could be still covered under warranty.

yes it failed both those tests..its bout 3 yrs old..warranty is up lol...so you think its just a hd problem? or thats just one of the problems?

Yup. If it failed the tests, it's the drive. No need to worry about the rest of your system.

You should double check the warranty period. Some of them things carried a 5 year warranty. :D

ok i'll check for warranty..if it is up..what brand do u recommend? western digital?

Yea, they seem to be the drive to get right now. Quiet, reliable. I also like the Seagate drives. Most of mine are Seagate drives, with a Hitachi and Maxtor or two thrown in.

When you reinstall windows will it run Ok with just that on? are you putting your firewall on before you go online?.
