Get the newer E8400, it's the Wolfdale core, 45nm:

If you're overclocking, this is definitely the chip to get. Even if you're not, it's still a really good processor. For gaming, it'll be a bit better than the Q6600 as almost all games out right now aren't coded to take full advantage of 4 cores.
It's cheaper and faster than the E6850.
I wouldn't say it's much better, but you can buy a C2D E8xxx for less than a Q6600 and get slightly better performance in games. With the money saved from choosing the dual, a better graphics card could be bought, which would make a much bigger difference.Oh Yess! Worshipme has made it very clear that C2D is much better than QC
