Jumpers

All the jumper does is make a connection for the two prongs correct?

I'm asking because I am in a position where I don't have any jumpers and I can't get any. But I am really good with making electrical components and I have lots of materials. So if this is all that needs to be accomplished to set a drive to slave I can make a homemade jumper.

Pretty much. Try going to a local computer store. They may have a few jumpers laying around that they could just give you.
