my laptop which is kind of old just mysteriously died today. It just won't power on. At first I thought it was the battery but I plugged it in and still nothing. It also can't be the charger because it works with other laptops I tried. Any ideas on this mysterious death. I don't want to spend money fixing it because i'm getting a new laptop in september for college but I still need this one for school until then.

sometimes it will sound like the fan inside is starting but then turns off, nothing ever appears on screen though. A while back it would do this once in a while but i left it for a min then fired it up and it worked but now its just doing this all the time.
I have a laptop thats a little worse than yours,
p2 400MHZ
192MB ram
6GB HDD
ATI RAGE Mobility 8mb Graphics
windows xp lite
I'm sort of surprised the thing hasn't fossilized yet
But i'm going to try and open it up somehow to see if I can figure it out.
