New rig suggestions

The real-life performance difference between 1066MHz RAM and 800HMz is nil. It's not really worth the extra money, plus the 800MHz stuff has 4-4-4-12 timings whereas the 1066MHz modules have 5-5-5-15 timings which aren't as good. Also the 800MHz Corsair XMS2 memory can reach 1100MHz when overclocked.
BTW, ATI has just released a new card which replaces the 2600XT, it's called the HD 3650 and it has a bit of a performance advantage over the 2600 I think. Also Newegg should have the E8400 back in stock very soon so just wait a week for that.

It seems the 2600xt has better specs than the 3650.

I already bought the processor, I over paid a tad though. $239

The 3650 uses a revised core and is slightly faster than the 2600XT.
EDIT: It's also manufactured using the 55nm process so it's cheaper to build and therefore cheaper to buy.

Question, I will be running home 32-bit, would I benefit from 4gb of ram?

Sorry this thread is all over the place, kind of using it as my scratch pad since I want to purchase everything tonight.

So far I have the e8400, freezer pro 7 hsf, vista hp 32-bit, and am set on the recommended mobo.

Ok, I understand better now and will stick with the ddr2-800. Now 2 or 4 gigs?

And I'm also going to stick with the 2400xt, since noise is a concern(HTPC)
