Ok, so I "found" the money for a new build:D

I use my compy for some video/photo editing, Office 2007 always, internet research and no gaming(360). I may want to install a blu-ray player in the future, so HD capability is a possibility.

I have the case, psu, cpu cooler, sound card, vista home premium(32 bit), and a bn samsung hdd..... so basically I need a cpu, mb, ram, and a video card(no gaming)

I am torn between the Q6600 and the new E8400, I'm not sure if I will utilize the quad core and think I may want the newer 45nm/1333mhz fsb dual core....undecided.

I don't need a mb with crazy options, however, I would like to OC with ease.

As far as a video card, its a budget build so I am just looking for something that will suit my needs.

And since I will be running a 32 bit OS, 2-3 gb of ram.

Thanks - Chris

If you're going to be OC'ing then the E8400 is the best option. They can reach 4.2GHz! For the motherboard I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130098-Nice P35 motherboard with some decent cooling. It would be perfect for OC'ing. For the video card, you really don't need to spend very much if you're not going to be gaming although I would like to point out that a $160 graphics card could turn your PC into a much more powerful gaming machine than that 360. This if you still want to game on your 360: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127296- Vista still needs a decent graphics card to run Aero. This will do I think.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150275- My attempt to convert you to PC gaming.
For the RAM I would recommed at least 2GB of this stuff: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034- 30$ after mail-in rebate.

Hmm.... I'm open to a better card, but was hoping to keep it around $120 or so. However, $160 isn't so bad.

That $160 card will allow you to run some decent games. The other one is just for general use. I was just hoping to tempt you over to the PC side.

hmm, does anyone know where I can find an in-stock e8400?

They were flying off the shelves last week at Microcenter for $189, I should of grabbed one.

nice quadriple post =D and yeah that video card looks pretty nice, the 2600 is a good card for that price. ill look around for a E8400 In-Stock, (EDIT) i couldent find any =(
