I use AVG free edition 7.5 for viruses and AVG anti-spyware. Both work perfectly and more importantly, both are free. You don't get automatic updates with AVG anti-spyware however so be sure to update it regularly.

A bit too secure, but you can turn off the HIPS applications which is pretty much useless. And you will know why if you dl this.
