We have a monitor for our newly set up computer. It worked fine for a little while, then something happened (my dad's computer so I don't know what he might have done). Now every time during the startup it goes to a black screen, goes from the proper resolution, and switches to a lower one which cause all the icons to be to big. We manually switch it to where we like it but next restart it reverts.
