Hello,

I am in the process of working out a list for my next build, now that Q6450 & 9800 x2 are just around the corner.

I was thinking about having 2 raptors in raid 0 for ultimate loading time. On newegg there are Western Digital Raptor X & Western Digital Raptor (with ought the X). What is the difference? I think one is see thru and the other is not, but is there any performance diff?

What you guys think about 2 raptors in raid 0 in general?

Thanks

well im not sure what the X diff is ....
but are the a considerable amount faster then 7200rpms, ive never used one before.

The RaptorX has a clear cover, and a 16MB cache as opposed to 8MB

EDIT: A few things to note, dBA for starters, it's louder and it uses more power so would run at higher temps.

I'd trust the review before I trusted Newegg.

If you're still unsure then you could always check up at WD (HERE)

EDIT: Now that you've given the models I see where the confusion comes in, I assumed you were referring to the traditional 74GB Raptor when you stated "Rapror (normal)" which is also what the table I posted is concerned with.

The difference between the two you have linked is a clear cover and $5

:)
