what is really different between motherboard with 780i or x38?

i understand 780i is nvidia gamer motherboard but can it be reliable or better than normal excellent motherboard like asus, msi or gigabyte with x38 or maybe p35?

i check some tests... i see no big different... only is 780i is expensive ($100+) than average price.

780 is if you want to sli 3 video cards , other wise the x38 is a better choice

The 780i supports 3-way SLI like cryman said, 650i supports SLI but splits it's 16 PCI-E lanesbetween the two graphics cards so each GPU can only use 8 lanes. The 680i supports SLI but each GPU gets the proper 16 lanes each. Intel chipsets don't support SLI but ATI Crossfire. The X38 and P35 are almost always a better choice than an Nvidia chipset unless you need SLI support as they can reach a higher FSB speed and are generally better for overclocking.

ah i see..

alright thank you guys for clearly explaining...

< goes with p35 for now.
