slow and turns off

My PC's specs are:

Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium 4 processor
2 GB ram(new)
Nvidia 6600GT Grapics Card
320 GB Hard Drive Space(new)
p4mam2-v motherboard with integrated sound card

My computer turns off at various times and is very slow

We primarily use the computer for Video editing and gaming if that helps

P.S. did spyware and virus check and cleaned the dust out of the PC

umm. reinstall windows. im sure u really dont wanna but that'll most likely fix the prob. and if its still screwed.. what kinda thermal paste do u have?

i duno is there a recommended period of time when you have to put new thermal paste on your CPU, if so what is it

cpu temp is 29
my cpu usage changes to 100% alot, would a dual core be recommended
