Legal Responsibility For Individuals Recovering Deleted Partitions From Purchased HD

i would say not. its their property once sold. they could have put that stuff on. case closed

To be honest If the seller doesn't have an ounce of sense to cover his tracks properly he is a fool, It would be extremely harsh for someone to purposely set out to find hidden data on a second hand drive then use it against the person they bought it off unless it was so bad like pornography or worse.
I would also question what type of person the buyer is,if he is intent on searching for stuff then his intension's don't sound much better either.

who the hell would go through your old hard drive and then report you?

sure, i go through old hard drives i buy and shit, and i find credit card numbers, social security numbers, addresses, passwords, illegal shit. i don't report them...theres no point.

and its just too time consuming to go about recovering deleted files. i just look through whats on the hard drive, and it would just waste my time to recover deleted files. i highly doubt anyone who bought your hard drive would care what illegal shit you have on there.

maybe if u sell it to a cop, or some hacker, then the hacker gits in trouble then they search the drive for whatever is there. but the chances thats gonna happen is unlikely enough to call it safe.
