Some advice on building a new desktop

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums and thought it'd be a good time to join, since I'm thinking of building a new desktop. Here are the components I have in mind. I'd really appreciate any comments and suggestions you may have regarding my choice in components. I'm mainly concerned about how much cooling will be necessary. The case I have in mind already comes with 8 fans, so I'm wondering if I need any more. this machine will have Vista on it and will be used primarily for gaming. I plan to have 2 7200 rpm SATA drives in RAID 0 as well as another drive non RAID that will house my Vista. the games would go on the RAID drives of course. Also, I will be doing SLI with the 2 8800GT(edited from GTS) cards.I went to an online calculator, and got out that I needed a 500 watt power supply. To be safe, I'm going with 650 Watts. Again, all comments are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that the GTS was supposed to be higher performing than the Gt, but after looking at some benchmarks, this doesn't seem to be the case. What makes the GT more powerful than the GTS?

the gt is the new model of the 8800 using the g92 core so it runs at cooler temps also it has a lot more pipelines then the gts

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies.

Neodude, I did some research online, and the 2 8800GT's SLI'd seem to perform anywhere between 10% to 60% better than a single GTX. Apparently the advantage is lost in non-mainstream games that don't have the SLI plugin, but I think I can take my chances with that. I think I have it finalized, and the case I'm planning on using is now this one:

I'm still worried about the cooling though. In addition to the case's 2 120mm fans & the 80mm top fan, I'm planning on getting another 120mm front fan and 2 80 mm rear fans. Since I have no experience with this can anyone tell me if it would be adequate with the components I have? Or should I go with liquid cooling?

Thanks.

the 8800 GT is more powerful then the 640mb GTS

the new revision of the GTS wich is the 512 mb version is much more powerful then the GT

That will be enough cooling provided that you get yourself a decent CPU cooler like a Tuniq Tower 120 (I think they go for like $40).

However, the Stacker is a large case and you won't go wrong if you water cool your baby.

yer but water cooling ...eww.
just the thort of it exploding inside my computer .
i dont think im going to watercooling any time soon.
i stick with harmless air .ahha
