OK I was wondering...I have a computer with a 512 ddr RAM installed and it has an extra RAM slot...I was wondering if it's possible to install a ddr 2 into that extra slot? Will the two memory cards be compatible. Could it hurt my computer at all to try it anyways? Like if I put it in and it doesn't work can't I just take it right back out with no side affects?

No. You can only use DDR on that motherboard.

DDR has 184 pins whereas DDR2 has 240 pins. They are not interchangeable.

Yes, they are both 184-pin DDR RAM sticks. Make sure they are at the same speed though.

The HP Pavilion a345w supports PC2100/PC1600 DDR memory. Here are the motherboard specs from HP.

Besides PC133 is 168 pin.

They will work. Hopefully they are of the PC2100 variety and not PC1600. :D

That's just weird. I look at the page he gave us and it shows PC133, yet the link you gave (which I did see on the one he gave) mentions a completely different RAM style. I wonder which is right...
