2 pci-e slots

whats so great about having to pci-e x16 slots, besides Sli or Crossfire. My mobo has 2 pci-e x16 slots, but problem is, it doesnt support Sli or Crossfire. I could soft mod it to have Sli with a program, but not right now.
so if i put another graphics card in the second slot, will i get a performance increase? decrease? and what are some advantages and disadvantages of having a mobo having 2 pci-e x16 slots that doesnt support Sli or Crossfire?
unless something else can go there except fans and graphic cards.

haha ok . still . thats the same as my board . but it supports crossfire not sli.

hmm i see, so what will happen if i plug in a random graphics card in the second slot?
and what will happen if i used an external splitter and connect 1 monitor to the 2 graphics card?

You can do 2 graphics cards and setup a 3 or 4 monitor setup. My mobo supports SLI, but I don't use SLI, I just connect 2 monitors to 1 GFX card, and 1 to the other GFX card for a 3 monitor setup.
