Crossfire

I'm not sure if crossfire is like SLI..

Could i pair my 3850 with a 3870? Or do i need two 3850's

first of all, ask as many questions as you need. No question is a dumb question, and that is the only way you learn. People feel that only children ask questions, and that when yu become a certain age, it is inappropriate. But, that is not logical at all. Asking questions protects you, emporwers you, and enables you to grow. Here is your answer;

come to think of it . u ask A LOT of questions lol

but cards have to be the same , just like in sli ,sorry

The cards have to be EXACTLY the same even manufacture because the clocks defer. Even if it does work with some what different cards it isnt recommanded at all.

Not for CrossFire. One of the selling points of CF was the ability to run two different cards from different manufacturers and still get boosted graphics. SLI on the other hand had to be the same exact model, but brand didn't have to be the same.

I'm not sure, but I think NVIDIA already corrected that with driver updates.

oh cool thanks for the update, didn't know that.. thats interesting, its kind of like putting harddrives in raid, they give you options so that you can use different size harddrives.

sorry im tired if i dont make sense. :(
