What is 'Bonjour' service?

It's started asking permission through zone alarm. What is it? I googled it and it looks like something to do with itunes perhaps?

I'm not understanding what it's fuction is though.

Any help?

Bonjour is a network service for device discovery on the network. iTunes does use bonjour, as well as other apple software and a few network devices.

Haha, I thought it was related to that spyware, with that monkey thing, so I've always not allowed it, even though I don't supposedly have any spyware, etc.

I think that's it's somthing to do with Cross-platform media sharing through iTunes. But i'm not 100%

It's like this. If you have your itunes set to share your library and go down to a different computer on your network (with itunes) and run itunes it will pickup your library. Bonjour does this.

It's not spyware in that, just a load booster. But for people like me who don't have photoshop, it's from Itunes and it's not spyware.

i did the same thing i always blocked the bonjour serive i guess i can let it out!
