Hey,

I will most likely not be building this, as I plan to build in June (when I'm back in the states and hardware is FAR cheaper), and better Radeons/the 9800GX2 will probably be out.
But I still wanted to consider options etc...look around. You guys tell me what is bad, what's not etc etc.

Anyhow, this is what I put together:

Case: $99.99 LIAN-LI PC-G07B (I'm not certain about this yet, if anyone else knows other sleek cases, I'd be happy to hear!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112162
Motherboard: $299.99 XFX MB-780 (Does the 780i SLI justify the $300 pricetag?) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141005
RAM: $225.98My motherboard says: DDR2 800 (up to DDR2 1200 with EPP 1.0)..what's EPP 1.0?? My RAM supports it though. I'll be getting two Transcend aXe RAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208343
CPU: $279.99 Q6600 2.4GHZ (Going to OC to 3GHZ): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
Heatsink: $48.99 ZALMAN 9500A http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223
Video Card: $939.98Two EVGA 8800GTX 768mb: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130072
Sound Card: $80.99 Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102006
Power Supply: $259.99 Thermaltake W0131RU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153043
Hard drive: $169.99 10,000RPM 150GB Raptor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136012 (In addition to my old 200GB and 320GB drives)
Operating System: $111.49 Vista Home Premium 64bit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116204

The Damage: $2517.38 Ouch.

What do you think? :)

i would get a better case than the lian.
get zalman 9700, i have one my cpu is 27c and the zalman is on as slow as it can go , really quiet.
4gb corsair xms2 ram 4-4-4-12 at 850mhz.

your computers a beast

Alright :D

Do you mean this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034.
?

I don't really understand RAM timings...what exactly does 4-4-4-12 mean xD?

I understand that the lower the cas latency, the better (and the pricier), but why?

Also, is the 780i worth it?

well if ur running t gtx's id say its worth it,

and i duno what they mean , i just no there better so i use them .
but u do have to overclock to that ,stock they are 5-5-5-15. very easly changed thoe

The 780i is just a 680i with 3-way SLI and PCI-2.0 support. Get it if you want as it's not that much more expensive than the 680i. As for the 2 8800GTXs. I would get 2 8800GTSs 512MB as they offer the same performance as the GTX but are much cheaper and use the G92 core which is much more energy efficient. And the RAM Cryman suggested is very good. I have 4gigs of it which is worth it over
2 gigs especially in a rig like yours.

So that 800mhz RAM is better than the 1200mhz RAM that I initially had :O?

No it is not better but it's much better to get 4GB of 800MHz RAM over 2GB of 1200MHz RAM, you'd be better off saving the money.
