does anyone know if I could get an HDMI to DVI adapter so i can hook up my ps3 to my 22" widescreen? If i do that, will I still be able to play in 1080i? and how would I hook up the sound? I know it's a similar question to another last week, but there was no answer...

thanks

Personally, I would make it play in 720p format. Progressive is better than interlaced.

and yes you can use the hdmi to DVi adapter, just won't get sound outta it.

Just use the optical out on the ps3 if you have surround sound that supports it.

yea you can but don't get the 70 dollar ones...go to local electronics store, you can get em for 20 bucks

silly question, but is there a name for the green audio jack on pcs?

maybe I could get an optical out to green jack converter?

is there such thing??

edit> i want a way to hook up the sound from my PC to my computer speakers.....

You need this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10231&cs_id=1023104&p_id=2661&seq=1&format=4

I use the exact one for my PS3.

Your monitor MUST support HDCP.

For the sound, in the PS3 menu you must choose "sound via component/composite cable" instead of your HDMI cable.

So you will have your HDMI cable for video, and your component/composite cables for audio.

To get audio to work with your standard computer speakers, you just need a standard RCA to (female) mini jack adapter.

I have that exact set up, and it works great.

This may be a dumb question but does your 22" wide screen even support 1920X1080? Cause if it doesn't then your not going to get more than 720P out of it regardless. No 22" monitors I know of support that resolution. 1680X1050 isn't 1080I or 1080P, I'm guessing you want to hook it up to your computer monitor?

yes, computer monitor. I have a 1080i 19" LCD, but it has a long response time, and games just don't look good on it -- especially through composite
