cd drive

well ive had problems with the cd drive and its plugged in and all but its not showing up in my computer was wondering if you guys knew how to fix it i would be greatful for any info anyone has

is it a SATA drive or the ATA?

The noticable physical difference is that ATA has a big fat ribbon cable, which is flat, and SATA has a much smaller cable

This has happened to me on occasions have you tried a system restore to say a week or before the problem started. if that doesn't work open the case and check the connections, is the disc spinning when you put one in, also goto device manager and look up your drive in there, if its there then click on it and see if there is any error codes.
